An Earlobe Repair Consultation is designed for patients who have a partially or completely torn, split, stretched, or elongated earlobe due to earrings, trauma, gauges, or progressive stretching of an earring piercing. During your consultation, the provider will evaluate the earlobe and discuss your concerns, including the location and extent of the tear, enlargement of the piercing hole, earlobe symmetry, tissue quality, and your desired cosmetic outcome. Both ears will be evaluated when appropriate. The surgical repair process will be reviewed in detail. Earlobe repair is typically performed as an in-office procedure under local anesthesia. Depending upon the type and extent of the defect, the damaged or healed edges of the torn piercing are carefully removed and the earlobe is reconstructed using precise surgical techniques. Fine sutures are then used to restore the natural contour and shape of the earlobe while minimizing visible scarring.
